The 2013 Toyota Camry vs. 2013 Honda Accord

Trying to decide on a new mid-size family sedan but stuck between the new 2013 Toyota Camry and new 2013 Honda Accord? Let us break it down and get you the information you need in order to make the best decision for you.

After the Camry underwent a redesign in 2012, the 2013 Toyota Camry will have just minor changes. Meanwhile, Honda has redesigned the Accord in 2013. Though both cars are popular choices among consumers, it’s tough to go against the best-selling mid-size car in the U.S. in the Toyota Camry.

2013 Toyota Camry LE

The Toyota Camry includes hands-free Bluetooth functionality.

Under the hood, the Accord is a bit more powerful with a 185-horsepower, 2.4-liter four-cylinder, while the Camry boasts a 178-hp, 2.5-l engine. Despite carrying a stronger engine, the Accord doesn’t gain much ground in fuel economy as it has a 30 mpg combined rating to edge the Camry’s 28 mpg combined rating*. If you want to get a jump off-the-line, however, the Camry provides more up front power,  even with a lower torque of 170 pound-feet, though it would eventually be overtaken by the Accord’s 181 lb-ft torque at higher speeds.

If you’re looking to save even more with fuel economy, be sure to consider the Camry Hybrid with its amazing gas-mileage ratings of 43 mpg city/39 highway*. Currently, Honda has no plans to debut an Accord Hybrid model until the 2014 model year. The Camry and Accord have the option for a V6 engine as well.

The Toyota Camry LE and Honda Accord EX have comparable, functional interiors. For those passengers looking for a comfortable cruise, you may prefer the softer ride of the Camry, while either vehicle provides ample legroom in the rear seats.

2013 Honda Accord EX Sedan

The Honda Accord has been redesigned for 2013.

Whereas the Accord has a starting MSRP slightly under that of the Camry, the 2013 Camry comes with an array of standard features with the option to add even more. Some of the features of the Camry include standard Bluetooth hands-free calling, Bluetooth audio streaming, USB port and keyless entry, in addition to the choice between two navigation systems featuring either a 6.1-inch screen or 7.0-inch system with richer graphics.

The efficient, reliable 2013 Toyota Camry is a perfect vehicle for everyday commuting, and the bottom line remains that the Camry continues to outperform all competitors in sales.
